Introduction: As 2025 approaches, we're thrilled to announce significant updates to our weekly events for Magic: The Gathering, One Piece, and Union Arena. Discover all the details about these changes, effective from the start of the new year!
Changes to Magic: The Gathering's Standard Showdown:
New Time: Saturdays at 3:00 PM (previously Fridays at 6:30 PM).
Entry Fee: $10. Each player receives a participant pack of the latest standard set available. If packs are out of stock, the entry fee will be reduced to $7.
Promos and Prizes:
Capacity: Technically capped at 8 for promo distribution.
1st Place: Receives the current Standard Showdown promo + a foil promo pack.
Top 7: Receive a non-foil promo pack.
Extra promos may be available from previous weeks, altering weekly distributions.
Points Allocation: 1st place earns 10 points, 2nd place 5 points, and 3rd place 3 points, provided there are at least four participants. Points can be used as in-store currency; members can store their points, while non-members must spend them the same day.
Friday Night Magic Adjustments:
Timing: Continues every Friday from 2 PM to 8 PM.
Special Offers: Spend $10+ on sealed Magic products to receive a random promo from our extensive promo binder.
Note: FNM may extend or alter hours for special events like release parties or prereleases.
One Piece Event Enhancements:
New Time: Saturdays at 6:30 PM (moved from 8:30 PM).
Entry Fee: $10, including a participant pack from the latest release (OP-X). If out of stock, the entry drops to $7.
Promos and Prizes:
Capacity: Technically capped at 8 for promo distribution.
1st Place: Winner promo pack.
Top 8: Tournament promo pack.
Points Allocation: 1st place earns 10 points, 2nd place 5 points, and 3rd place 3 points, provided there are at least four participants. Points act as in-store currency; members may store their points, while non-members must spend them before leaving.
Union Arena Weekly Event Updates:
Time: Fridays at 8:30 PM. (Unless there is a release party or prerelease event)
Entry Fee: $10, including a participant pack of any Union Arena pack in stock. If unavailable, the entry reduces to $7.
Promos and Prizes:
Capacity: Technically capped at 8 for promo distribution.
1st Place: Winner promo.
Top 8: Participant promo.
Points Allocation: 1st place earns 10 points, 2nd place 5 points, and 3rd place 3 points, with awards contingent on a minimum of four players. Points can be spent as in-store currency; members can save their points, while non-members must use them on the day of the event.
Upcoming Changes to Magic: The Gathering Store Championships:
As we look ahead to 2025, we are awaiting more details from Wizards of the Coast (WOTC) about the next Store Championships. Assuming there are no drastic changes from WOTC, we plan to revise our approach to these championships. Key updates will include:
No Requirement for Standard Showdown Attendance: Participation in standard showdowns will no longer be mandatory for entering Store Championships.
Enhanced Prizing: We're planning to add additional prizes to make these championships more rewarding and competitive.
Minimum Participation: These events will now require a minimum of 8 participants to commence.
