What to know before the Switch 2 reveal this week.

The full reveal of the Switch 2 is expected this week, and we wanted to give you the lowdown on what that means for preorders at Curiosity.

We plan to open preorders the moment we get the green light from our distributor. But—as anyone who’s dealt with console launches or TCG preorders knows—allocations are very real, and they’re definitely coming for the Switch 2.

🔒 Preorder Policy

• If you’re an Unrestricted Member (3+ months): You can preorder now, pay later—no money down until it arrives.

• Everyone else: Preorders require full payment upfront, and you’ll need to create a free Curiosity account at minimum.

• Limit 1 console per person. No exceptions, no funny business.

📦 Will I Actually Get One?

We want to be as transparent as humanly possible:Preordering is not a guarantee.

If we’re allocated down (and we probably will be), we may have to cancel and refund some orders. We know that sucks—but we’re playing the game we’ve been given.

If allocations happen, here’s how we’ll decide who gets one first:

1. Your support of 1st Party Nintendo titles from us

2. Overall purchase volume with Curiosity

3. Your trade-in history

4. How often and consistently you shop with us

   
   

So if you’ve mostly downloaded games digitally, you might not get one in the first wave. This is our way of rewarding loyal, physical media-loving customers who’ve helped keep small gaming stores like us alive.

And yes—supporting OG Switch games right now absolutely helps your chances. (and Switch 1 games will 100% work on the Switch 2!)

💡 Best-Case vs. Worst-Case

Best case? Nintendo crushes it, makes enough consoles for everyone, and we fulfill 100% of our preorders with no hiccups.

Worst case? We get allocated down to 3... or 1... or even zero. And we send a lovingly frustrated letter to Nintendo.

🚨 Real Talk

We’re being as upfront and transparent as we can be. This is how allocations work. This is what we're up against. But if you want a Switch 2 and you want it from us, preordering and supporting physical Nintendo titles now is your best move.

Even if you miss out at launch, more waves will come. This is just the start.
