NOTE: This is about cards, and has no effect on our video game trade ins.
Earlier this year, we introduced a tiered trade-in program designed to provide value for both our customers and the store. After several months of testing, we've learned a lot and have gained valuable insights. While our initial approach aimed to accommodate a wide range of cards, we’ve realized that some adjustments are necessary to better balance the needs of our business and community.
Starting September 24, 2024, we’ll be returning to a streamlined trade-in system that offers a clearer, more straightforward process:
Cards valued at $10 or more: Receive 50% in base trade value (or 40% in cash / 60% in trade credit for members).
Cards valued between $3 and $10: Receive 25% in base trade value (or 20% in cash / 30% in trade credit for members).
Cards valued under $3: Outside of special agreements, we will no longer accept cards valued under $3.
New Releases: Outside of special agreements, we will not accept cards until 7 days after release.
Market Manipulation: No trade-in is ever guaranteed. We use sales data from a 90-day period, and if any card shows signs of market manipulation, we will be unable to accept it.
Note: All trade-in values will be based on either market value or TCGPlayer low, whichever is lower.
These changes apply to Magic: The Gathering, Pokémon, and Disney Lorcana. For other card games, such as One Piece and Flesh and Blood, which we accept on a more limited basis, the reduced trade-in system will remain in effect.
These updates are designed to ensure we continue providing fair trade-ins while keeping the long-term sustainability of our business in mind. The new structure allows us to focus on offering strong value for higher-value cards, while streamlining the process for everyone involved.
